Schools
Jane provides high quality Art 'Packages' for schools, a new way of giving your school a real kick-start in art. Much more rewarding than just a week-long workshop, you buy her time at the school for a month, during which she will be present on-site full time, working on a large piece of art, as well as doing any other art-related jobs you care to throw her way, such as art activities, clubs, teacher INSET, one- to one work with SEN pupils, memorials, scenery painting etc, all included within the very reasonable monthly fee. Please take a moment to look at the images from the most recent,at Blackwater J&I school an at Truro Prep school, and then click on ' book a workshop' in the side bar to find out more about pricing and how to book.
This painting was carried out over the month of June 2010 at Blackwater Primary School in full view of the whole school, with the help of six year six leavers (pictured in the foreground of the painting). These young people were chosen by the head as being either gifted and talented, or as being especially keen on art. They worked on their own self portraits on the painting itself using oils, under Jane's guidance. The pupils chose what positions they wanted to appear in, in the painting, Jane drew their outlines on the work and chose the pallet, and the young people mixed the colours and painted the images, using photos to refer to.
They learned much about painting technique, how to look properly at their subject, colour mixing, composing and critiquing their own work, and were justifiably extremely proud of what they acheived. They were thrilled to have the chance to do some proper oil painting on a large scale. Many other children from all the year groups also added little details to the painting as they were passing, as did staff and parents. All were delighted at seeing each new person added as Jane and others worked on the piece, and were very excited at being able to recognise themselves and their friends/sons/daughters/teachers as they appeared in the work.

Here the yr 6's pictured in the foreground of the painting pose with the finished work. They all signed their names on the painting and it now hangs permanently in the school. Calendars were printed with a copy of the painting on and went on sale in the school, providing a great keepsake for the young people to take away to remember their old primary school.
